John W. Wilbraham and his wife Ann donated the grounds for the park to West Cape May in May 1921 and the park was officially dedicated the following year. The land was deeded with the stipulation that it be used as a public park and that it forever be open to the public and be maintained as a park.

During the past 100-years the park has been used for community events including the Lima Bean Festival, the Strawberry Festival and the Tomato Festival. During the Winter Holiday Season the park has been decorated to reflect the peace and joy of the season. Throughout the year the park has served as a respite for residents and visitors.
